The Bulls pass rush has not been very effective so far this season. After the Pitt game, the defense has a lot of work to do and it starts with the big guys up front.

Ryne Giddins has to Step Up
Entering the season, redshirt sophomore Ryne Giddins was poised for a huge year. The former 4-star recruit was one of the most decorated recruits to come to USF and a lot has been expected of him. However, he has not lived up to the hype this season, at least so far.
In 5 games, he has only 13 tackles. This includes 2.5 tackles for loss and just one sack.

USF Soccer Wins Over FGCU
| Dom Dwyer scored another goal as the Bulls came away with a big win on the road at FGCU. |
In front of a crowd of 1556, the 14th ranked Bulls were able to handle the noise and come away with a big non-conference victory, 2 to 0.
The Bulls got on the board first in the 41st minute when Stiven Salinas was taken down in the net setting up a penalty kick for Leston Paul who gave USF the early edge. In the 62nd minute, Dom Dwyer found himself wide open (not the best idea) and buried his shot to put USF up for good.
USF is now 6-2-2 on the season (1-0-1 in Big East play) as they continue to play well. Kiefer was pleased with the showing by his team in front of a hostile crowd, knowing they will see plenty more of those on the road this season.
The Bulls will return home for a match on Saturday night (8PM) as they host Big East foe St. John's (ranked 8th in the country) in a huge match-up.

Week 6 Big East Bloggers Poll
I know, I know, I don't want to see this week's ranking either. While I still think USF may end up a top-20 team, this past week was ugly. And apparently the voters don't think USF is one of the 25 best teams in the country anymore. USF is going to need to take the next couple weeks to regain their footing and continue their quest for a Big East title, and hopefully that also means they'll be climbing their way back up the rankings. But for now, here's our ballots this week:

Final Thoughts on Pitt Game
As the Bulls return to practice and prepare for the game against UCONN in two weeks, the Pitt loss is still on our minds.
Everything went wrong for the team on Thursday night (please never schedule games on Thursday again).
USF Soccer Takes on FGCU
The USF men's soccer team, 5-2-2 (1-0-1) hits the road for a big game against in-state opponent Florida Gulf Coast University. USF is 2-0-1 away from home this season and is looking for a big non-conference win before getting back into Big East play. GFCU is 4-2-1, 1-1 at home this season, so they will be looking for the huge upset. Here is what they bring to the field.
Daniels Spreading the Ball Around
The USF passing game continues to improve this season. B.J. Daniels, despite not executing well last weekend, has been throwing the ball well (as compared to last season), spreading it to multiple receivers. If the offense wants to continue to improve and produce this season, the receivers will have to continue to step up.

Latest on A.J. Love
| (Picture: www.tbo.com) |
From Greg Auman - Wide receiver A.J. Love left the Pitt game with an ankle sprain last Thursday night and will missing this week's practices, but should be ready for UCONN next Saturday (according to Holtz).
Love made a nice reception for a 13 yard gain, but went down awkwardly. Love was able to limp off the field, but did not return to the game. Several fans said they saw him walking on the sidelines with his ankle heavily taped.
While it is hard to predict whether or not he will be ready for the UCONN game (3:30 PM is the official kickoff for the game), USF has depth at the receiver position to fill in for him if he is not ready to play. Andre Davis and Ruben Gonzalez continue to get more playing time and other receivers like Marc, Miller, T-Rex (once healthy), and others can step in for him until he is healthy.
As a fan, I am glad it is nothing too severe. Love was gone through two ACL injuries and seeing him limp off the field brought back bad memories. Hope he recovers fast and gets back on the field.
Victor Marc Contributing on Offense
The USF offense continues to spread the ball around and one of the receivers that has been stepping up is Victor Marc. The 5-11 220-pound slot receiver impressed the coaches this off-season and has been rewarded early and often this season.
So far, Marc has made 10 receptions for 127 yards, including a touchdown and a 67 yard touchdown run.
Marc really impressed the coaching staff during the Fall camp with his catching ability. It seemed that everything that was thrown his way was caught, giving Daniels and Eveld a reliable receiver.
Marc has great hands and has enough speed and durability to become a solid receiver for the Bulls. With Landi blocking more at the tight end position and A.J. Love hampered by an ankle sprain (suffered last week) he has a chance to impress these next two weeks. With Terrence Mitchell coming off of a concussion, he will get plenty of snaps during practice.
Watch for Marc to get more playing and continue to put up solid numbers for Daniels and the offense, both through the air and on the ground.
Darrell Scott Becoming Feature Back?

As the season rolls on, the running game for the Bulls continues to progress. Darrell Scott and Demetris Murray are having solid seasons, but when the season started, both were listed as co-running backs. There was no clear starter for the position. Now as the Bulls prepare for UCONN in two weeks, it would seem that Scott has become the primary running back for the offense.
