Ron Anderson Jr. Leading by Example

The Bulls continue their incredible season as they beat Providence on Saturday afternoon.  At 8-4 in conference play, there is a lot to be proud of, but Heath and company know they have a long way and as the season goes on, the veteran players continue to provide the leadership and energy on the court.  One of the biggest keys to this leadership on and off the court is senior Ron Anderson Jr.

USF Lands Two 2013 Commitments

From Greg Auman - The USF Bulls hosted  a large number of talented players on Junior Day on campus.  The Junior Day was a chance for high school stars to get a chance to visit the campus, facilities, and meet with coaches.  The big day (largest number of prospects to visit USF on Junior Day so far) proved fruitful as the Bulls landed two star commitments today.

USF Softball Drops Extra Inning Game to the Gators, 2 to 3

The USF Bulls battled hard against the tough 2nd ranked Gators, falling in extra innings 2 to 3.  The Bulls, now 3-1 to start the season, were tied late in the game before the Gators hit a two-run home run against Nevins to take the lead.  A late RBI from Gina Kafalas, who went 2 for 4 in the game, got them close, but the ladies couldn't get another hit.

Nevins pitched well in the game.  Going 7.1 innings, allowing 5 hits, 3 runs, walking 4 and striking out 3 (now 0-1).  Sam Greiner came into the game to finish out the top of the 8th inning for the Bulls.  Janine Richardson went 1 for 2 on the day and drew two walks.  Laura Fountain went 1 for 3 with an RBI double as well.

The Bulls are out to a great start.  They pushed an elite team to the breaking point and took care of the other teams.  They will return to action on Friday night as they take on Drake in the USF Invitational (game starts at 4:45PM)

Biggest Fan of the Big East Challenge 7: Garden 30

The center of Big East and basketball history.
The Big East is the greatest basketball conference in all of college sports.  Generations of players have played at the historic institutions that make up the conference, but only a handful of names have become legendary and only a select few, through pure will and strength, have been able to become to leave their legacies behind at the home of the Big East tournament and the home of basketball, Madison Square Garden.

Time to buckle up for this epic challenge.
For this challenge, Volvo, in partnership with the Big East Championship, has challenged us to take part in the Garden 30 (#Garden30) Challenge.  In honor of this contest, Volvo and the Big East want us to select 10 of the greatest teams, 10 of the greatest players, and 10 of the greatest moments in league history.  With so much incredible history, this may one the most challenging contest yet, but the players, teams, and moments selected are without question the pure essence of the Big East (buckle up, this is going to be a trip down memory road).

USF Softball Takes on the Gators

It's the third and final day of the 2012 opening tournament for the USF Bulls.  The ladies enter the final day of the tournament with a record of 3-0 and now face one of their toughest test, a game against the second ranked Gators.

UF enters the game with a record of 3-0 as well, exploding on offense in all three of their victories.  They are coming off of a incredible 2011 season where they finished 56-13, including 12-3 away from home.  They lost some of their power hitters from last season, but have a loaded lineup that will prove to be a huge challenge for the Bulls (game starts at 1:30PM).

USF WBB Beats Villanova

The USF ladies, facing a tough test at home, were able to control the ball and beat Villanova 55 to 48.  USF improves to 13-13 (5-7) on the year with the huge win, slowing down the best 3-point shooting team in the Big East.

USF Rallies to Beat Providence!

I'm talking Noriega, the REAL NORIEGA!
The USF Bulls, down most of the second half, were able to catch fire in the second half and beat Providence 55 to 48.  The Bulls are now 15-10 (8-4) on the season and sitting in great position after this effort!

USF Softball Beats Long Island

After having one game canceled on today's schedule (vs. Illinois State) the Bulls came out strong against Maine as they won 10 to 2 in 5 innings.  Lindsey Richardson pitched well in her second start, working all 5 innings, allowing 7 hits, 2 runs, walking 2 and striking out 5 batters to improve to 1-0 on the year.

USF WBB Takes on Villanova

The USF ladies, now 12-13 (4-7) on the season are back at home as they face Villanova at the Rec Center (game scheduled to start at 7PM).  Nova is 15-9 (5-6) on the season, but just 6-7 away from home.  The Wildcats are one of the best defensive teams in the league, allowing just 54 points per game, so the Bulls will find themselves in a defensive struggle from start to finish (ladies will be without Jasmine Wynne once again as she recovers from her concussion).

USF Takes on Providence in Round Two

The Friars are coming off of a tough loss on the road to Villanova and will be looking to defend home court against USF. Providence enters the night with a record of 13-12 (2-10) but they are 10-4 at home this season.  USF is coming off of a strong win against Pitt and comes into the game with a 14-10 (7-4) record on the season, looking to notch a strong win on the road.

In the last match-up, USF won 81 to 78, but struggled early in the game.  LaDontae Henton had a career night as the Bulls had to rally down the stretch to hold them off in the closing seconds. Let's see the numbers behind the Friars after a few games after the first match-up.
