Key Match-ups for USF vs. FAMU

Here are some of the key match-ups for the game. We will take a look at some of the one-on-one battles that will be happening on the field and how they can determine the game for either side. As always, each player and the team will win the victory on the night, but some of the individual battles will be key in this game.

B.J. Daniels vs. FAMU MLB Alvis Graham

Graham is one of the Rattlers best defenders and will be keeping his eye on Daniels, both in passing downs and for the quarterback sneaks. Daniels seems to be playing at a very high level right now and will need to continue to make his pass progressions and use his legs only when he needs to.

Offensive line vs. FAMU defensive line

The battle in the trenches, seems to be a recurring theme, but it is always important. USF has the size advantage here and has seen the 3-4 scheme FAMU brings to the table, so they should be able to protect Daniels and get the running lanes open for the Bull running backs. It also key especially with the blitz happy scheme that FAMU likes to run.

Darrell Scott vs. FAMU DT Jerry Willis

Scott showed off his leaping abilities last week and drew a lot of praise for his hard running. Running through the defensive line, DT Jerry Willis will look to stop Scott from getting down the field where he can out run some people or simply jump over them if he needs to.

Sam Barrington vs. FAMU QB Austin Trainor

The defensive line will look to get pressure, but the linebackers might come after Trainor and the Rattler passing game if they can continue to throw down field. Barrington has been quiet in the first two games, playing well, but not coming up with the big play he usually makes. This could be a huge game for him.

Ryne Giddins vs. FAMU Tackle Brandon Curry

USF needs to get more production from the defensive line and star Ryne Giddins needs to get it going. He will be facing Curry, so he should have the speed advantage and will look to make Trainor's night a miserable one and hopefully come away with a few sacks on the evening.
