| The next three weeks will be huge for USF. |
Ball State did upset Indiana last week (were a six point underdog going into the game). They have a mobile quarterback, a solid offensive line, and will not intimidated by USF. We have the better team, but if they come out flat, not prepared, the Cardinals could jump on the Bulls and make it a frustrating game (remember the Syracuse game last season?). USF has to come out sharp, execute the offense, play fast on defense, and handle their business. I am confident that Holtz and staff will have them focused, but never take a game for granted.
The game against FAMU should be a win (the following week), but teams like Oregon State fell asleep at the wheel to an FCS team and lost at home, so no game is a given. FAMU would love nothing more than to come out and beat us (not just at half time with the Marching 100 either). USF will most likely win this game, but don't sleep walk here either. They are scholarship players that have ability, so they will come out and give it there all to beat us.
The final game is against UTEP (good old Conference-USA). Once again, it should be a win and the Bulls are the better team (on paper). However, teams can have bad days and if a team coming in is focused and more prepared, it could be a dog fight. We talk about C-USA, take our shots at them, but they aren't not a horrible team and will come out swinging for us.
This homestand is huge for USF. The ability to win three games in a row at home, improve to 4-0 and move up in the rankings, is exactly what they need to do. USF can get their defensive and offensive schemes together, get players more reps (more freshman to contribute if games are over early), an get the veterans into midseason form before hitting the road and the Big East schedule.
Another important part (as listed by Bulls 247) are the recruits that will be visiting. Big names recruits such as wide receiver prospect D'vario Montgomery, will be in attendance for some of these games and as USF tries to prove itself and become more visible and attractive to the best prospects in the country (especially Florida) winning the games they should is key.
Things will get started this weekend. The next three weeks will be key to the success down the road.

Agreed - there's supposed to be some big name recruits at this weekend's game, and we really need these to play and win these 3 games to provide the confidence and get the players tuned up for the Big East. I really don't want this weekend's game to look like last year's Stony Brook game. There were a lot of different factors playing into that game, but we really need to NOT play down to the level of the opponent, as we've been known to in the past.
