While everyone is enjoying the day after a huge USF win (although Big East is making it a bit sour) several USF teams have been busy and there is a lot to note for the Bulls.
The volleyball team lost another road match, but came away with plenty to learn after they dropped all three sets to Northern Illinois today. The Bulls are now 4-8 on the season after the loss despite solid play by the key players. Valerie El Houssine has 13 assists and 13 kills on the day. Shelbie Dailey has 14 assists and Janice Rivera had 14 digs on the day as the Bulls continue to struggle (4-game win streaks seems like a long time ago). The Bulls will now take on Syracuse on Friday night at 7 PM as they try to get another win.
The USF ladies soccer team was able to rally to tie Pitt after being down in the second half, matching the Panthers to a 2-2 tie.
USF (4-3-2)(0-1-1) got the first goal of the match to match Pitts's score by Taylor Patterson. Molly Stack then set up Demi Stokes on the second score to pull even with Pitt and held on to tie the game for the Bulls as they try to get better early in conference play.
The Bulls will now host Big East champ Notre Dame at 7 PM on a national televised game a huge chance for USF to get a signature win in conference play early in the conference schedule.
The men's soccer team knocked off #10 UC Irvine 2 to 0 to get their second win over a top 15 program this season. The 12th ranked Bulls are now 4-2-1 on the season after getting a win they needed after several close and disappointing matches for Kiefer and team.
Wesley Charpie got the first goal of the game in the 13th minute. 69 minutes later Dom Dwyer got a goal in, his 6th goal of the season as he continues to lead the way for the Bulls. Chris Blais made 6 huge stops on his way to his third shutout win of the year.
The Bulls will now take on West Virginia on Sunday afternoon as they begin the Big East portion of their schedule.
A busy day for USF sports, but a solid day all around.
