USF Soccer Takes on St. John's

The USF ladies, after a rough loss to Syracuse, continues their road trip as they face St. John's University. USF enters the game with a record of 5-7-4 (1-5-3) and is looking for a big win to keep their postseason dreams alive. The Bulls are facing a long shot as the postseason, but getting a win is the first step. SJU enters the game with an 8-7-1 (4-5-0) record, including 5-2-1 at home, so this is going to be a huge match up.

The Red Storm is led by senior forward Jen Leaverton (5-3). Leaverton leads the team with 8 goals and 2 assists on the season (has taken 28 shots on the season). Freshman midfielder/forward Caityln McLaughlin (5-4) has 2 goals and 4 assists on the season. Junior forward/midfielder Runa Stefansdottir (5-2) has 1 goal and 4 assists (helping setting up everyone).

Sophomore midfielder Jen Gibbons (5-2) has 2 goals and 1 assist. Freshman fprward/midfielder Chelsey Martino (5-3) has 2 goals on the season. Senior midfielder Anna Torregiano (5-4) has one goal and 2 assists. Sophomore forward/midfielder Amy Marron (5-9) has one assists and has taken 17 shots on the season.

Senior goalkeeper Kristin Russell (5-8) has taken over the job in the net over Sophomore Lauren Ferris. Russell has allowed 11 goals (1.03 per game). She has also made 42 saves (.792) on the season, making life hard for offenses, not something USF wants to see in this game.

USF won't make the postseason at this point, but they can still improve their standings, get a late win on the board, and send the 13 seniors out with the victories and build upon the season to prepare for next season. As always, we will have the game results once the contest goes final this afternoon. GO BULLS!
