The USF ladies are facing a do or die situation as they hit the road to take on Big East opponent Syracuse tonight (game starts at 7PM). The Bulls, 5-6-4 (1-4-3), are sitting in the bottom of the conference and will have to win their remaining games and get some help if they want to make it to the Big East tournament. This team has played a lot of close games but has not been able to seal the deal at end. The ladies are 0-2-2 away from Corbett this season, so they face an uphill battle with the Orange. Syracuse is 6-5-3 (5-3-0) this season, including a 2-1 record at home, so the pressure is on for this game.
Junior midfielder Tina Romagnuolo (5-6) is the leading scorer for the Orange. She has 4 goals on the season and has taken 37 shots to lead the scoring attack. Sophomore defender Cecillia Borgstrom (5-5) has 2 goals and 1 assists from the backline.
Junior forward Jenna Rickan (5-3) has 2 goals and 1 assist. Sophomore forward Brittany Kinmond (5-3) has 2 goals and 1 assist (has taken 14 shots on the season). Junior forward Alyscha Mottershead has 2 assists on the season (has taken 9 shots thus far). Junior defender Skylar Sabbay (5-4) has 1 assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Anghel (5-8) has allowed just 16 goals this season (1.08 per game). She has made 53 saves (.768) and has shut out opponents in 6 games.
We hate to call a game do or die, but the ladies are facing it tonight in this one. If they don't win (tie won't help) they will see their chances fall apart. The seniors, led by Chelsea Klotz, have to come out attacking in this game and put everything they have into this game and try to get the victory to keep their postseason hopes alive for one more night.
