The USF ladies, coming off of a tough loss to UCONN on Friday night, will try to turn it around as they honor the senior class as they play their last game at Corbett Stadium.
USF, 5-5-4 (1-3-3), sits in 6th place in the American Division in the Big East Conference. Providence is 4-7-4 (2-5-0) and sits in 7th place in the division, so this will be a very intense battle for better positioning as both teams head down the stretch in Big East play.
The Friars are led by senior midfielder Laura DiClemente who leads the team with 6 goals and 3 assists on the season (leads team with 27 shots taken as well). Senior midfielder Courtney Collins has 3 goals and 2 assists on the season (has taken 23 shots) giving the Friars two dynamic goal scorers that will pressure the USF defensive line.
Senior forward Taylor Bartini has 3 goals and 1 assist. Junior midfielder Mary Vercollone has 2 goals and 2 assists. Senior midfielder Emily Castle has taken 12 shots this season. Junior defender Jenna Roncarati has taken just 7 shots, playing back deep to keep opponents in check. Chelseas Klotz, Demi Stokes and others will have to attack and really dictate the tempo of the game to get on the board early and keep the Friars back.
Senior Caitlin Walker is the goalkeeper. She has allowed 17 goal this season (1.08 goals per game, so expect another low scoring game). She has made 58 saves on the season (.773) and has 5 shut-out games this season, so overtime is always a possibility.
The Bulls really need to get a win here before they hit the road the rest of the season. The ladies will play at Syracuse on Friday after this game.
