USF Sweeps Double Header Against Providence

The Bulls returned to action after sweeping SJU over the weekend.  They welcome Big East foe Providence into town for a quick double header as they looked to continue their 16-game winning streak and improve on their 36-5 (9-0) record.

In the first game, Sara Nevins was in boss mode again as the Bulls won 5 to 0.  She worked 6 innings, allowing 2 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 12 batters.  Lindsey Richardson, pitching for the first time since March 9 (against Va Tech) due to shoulder stiffness, worked the 7th inning, allowing one walk and struck out 2 batters. Kenshyra Jackson went 1 for 2 and scored 2 runs as the Bulls managed just 2 hits in the game.  Janine Richardson went 0 for 2 and drove in a run.  Jessica Mouse went 1 for 2.  The Bulls managed to score 3 runs in the 6th without a hit (strange but true).

The team continued to roll in game two, winning 5 to 0 again.  Sam Greiner pitched the entire game, allowing just 4 hits and struck out 4 batters as she improved her record to 9-3.  Gina Kafalas went 2 for 3. Kenshyra Jackson went 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Janine Richardson went 2 for 3 with an RBI and scored 2 runs and Kourtney Salvarola went 2 for 3 with an RBI.

The Bulls have now set a program record with their 18th win in a row and are now 38-5 (11-0) on the year.  They are playing some of their best ball right now as they continue to battle and get closer to the NCAA tournament goals.

The Bulls will play 3-game series on the road starting Saturday at UCONN.  They open up with a double header, the first game starting noon and the second game at 2PM, before wrapping up the series on Sunday with an 11AM first pitch.
