The USF ladies (5-3) are heading out west as they take part in the Air Force Classic. Their first game of the tournament will be against Idaho State (3-3). USF got a big time win at home last time out against Stetson and will need another big performance out of Akila McDonald, Kaneisha Saunders, and others to get the job done. USF is without Andrea Smith who could possibly miss the season as she recovers from knee surgery, so the Bulls will have to step it up to get another key win. (Game starts at 7PM)
Idaho State is led by junior guard Kaela Oakes (5-5). She averages 10.2 points a game, 3.2 rebounds a game, and has 13 assists on the season. Sophomore guard Kara Jenkins (5-8) has 2.5 points a game, 3.2 rebounds a game and has 24 assists on the season, so look for her to get the offense going.
Junior forward Ashleigh Vella (6-1) is averaging 9.3 points a game and 4.8 rebounds a game. Sophomore forward Cydney Horton (6-1) is averaging 6.7 points a game and 6.5 rebounds a game, look for her and Vella to battle Rowe and McDonald in the paint for points and rebounds the entire game. Sophomore guard Lindsey Reed (5-9) is averages 14.2 points a game and 5.8 rebounds a game, so Saunders and fellow guards have to lock her down.
Look out for junior forward Jess Jeppesen (6-2) who is averaging 10.7 points a game and 6.5 rebounds a game (more size in the paint) and senior guard Chelsea Pickering (5-9) who is averaging 10 points a game and 2.5 rebounds a game in just two games played this season.
USF needs to get off to a good start in this game. The Bulls have momentum after the win over Stetson and have the size advantage inside. Look for Wynne to get going and get McDonald and Rowe more touches inside to take advantage of their height.
