WBB Takes on Dayton

The USF ladies, 7-5, are back in action as they take on Dayton in the first game of the Saint Peter's Holiday Classic. Dayton enters the contest with a record of 6-4 on the season, dropping their last game 76 to 82 to 24th ranked Gonzaga, so expect a tough game as the Bulls try to win a key non-conference road game before the start of Big East play (game starts at 5PM).

The Flyers are led by senior forward Justine Raterman (6-1) who is averaging 14.8 points a game and 5.8 rebounds a game. Freshman guard Andrea Hoover (5-9) is averaging 10 points a game and 3.9 rebounds per game. Freshman forward Ally Malott (6-4) is averaging 7.8 points per game and 3.5 rebounds a contest.

Senior guard Patrice Lalor (5-6) is averaging 6.7 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, and 4.8 assists per game, leading the offense and getting everything started (USF has to shut her down and force her to take shots, not spreading the rock around). Senior forward Elle Queen (6-0) is averaging 6.5 points a game and 4.1 rebounds per game. Senior center Casey Nance (6-5) is averaging 5.4 points per game and 4.7 rebounds per game, making the matchup in the paint with McDonald and Rowe a tough one. Sophomore center Cassie Sant (6-3) is averaging 6.1 points per game and 2.4 rebounds per game.

This is going to be a real close game for USF. Dayton has size in the paint to match up with Rowe and McDonald. It will come down to the play of the guards for both teams. With Hoover of Dayton playing a key role, Smith and Wynne have to come up big to slow her down and shut down Lalor as well and stop her from creating offense for the Flyers. Expect a real close game, but hopefully the speed of USF is able to pull them away in this key game.
