What Returns for USF in 2012: Receiving

The USF receiving corps stepped up this season with newcomers and players that returned from injury. Heading into 2012, USF has a deep and skilled receiving corps, both at wide receiver and at tight end. They will have to progress this season and get down field to help the offense be more productive this season. Let's take a look at what wide receivers and tight ends are returning for USF in 2012.

Tight ends

The USF tight ends were used a little bit more this season as Fitch continues to work them into the offense. Evan Landi will return for his senior season, giving USF a huge body and big time pass catcher down the field. Andreas Shields is another top player that brings a lot of experience to the field. Mike McFarland (transfer from UF) got onto the field this season and will play a bigger part next season as he learns the offense. Isaac Virgin will get a chance as well if he can prove his skill on the field.

Jeff Hawkins will return after missing the season with a knee injury, a key player that will help the pass blocking and give Daniels another target. Others like Tyler Guy, Jake Carlton, and Robert Arhemann will get their chance in camp to prove themselves and try to get on the field more in 2012.

Wide receivers

USF will have arguably the best receiving corps in the Big East in 2012. USF will miss AJ Love and Joel Miller, but will return a ton of experience and skill to the position. Sterling Griffin the leading receiving in 2011, will be back. Andre Davis, Deonte Welch, and Ruben Gonzalez, the talented freshman will all return after getting a lot of playing time this season. Stephen Bravo-Brown will be back along with Lindsey Lamar, Victor Marc, Derrick Hopkins, giving the passing game a ton of speedy weapons on the outside edge. Terrence Mitchell will return as well after missing most of the season with that concussion (could move back to cornerback, but coaches seems firm with him at wide receiver). A newcomer will be Chris Dunkley, the talented transfer, will be a huge addition to the team now that he can play (will be limited in spring as he recovers from wrist surgery). William Whiteside will also be back as well.

USF will be deep at wide receiver next season, so spreading the ball around won't be too hard. Daniels has to find his targets in space and allow all of these talented players to get in the open field and create in space. The passing offense should be fun to watch in 2012.
