As usual, it's been a wild bowl season, with as many frustrating last-minute wins as there were thrilling shootouts. Of course for us here in Tampa, there were no games that particularly jumped out to us as USF was home for the holidays. Despite the Bulls' absence, we found a way to occupy ourselves and even make a game of it. Here's a link to the final results of the picks for this year's bowl season.
Let's start with just the Bull Rush bloggers. As you can see, it cam down to right at the end where I appeared to have a very slim chance at even tying for anything. However, in a miraculous feat of glory, I correctly picked all of the BCS games and finished with 13 correct picks out of the last 15 and seven straight. Matt was holding onto a decent lead before the BCS games started, but slipped in a couple games near the end and ended up in a tie with me at the end at 23 correct picks. And that is precisely why I implemented a tiebreaker. By picking Alabama and a more accurate score, I edged out Matt for the pride of The Bull Rush. Marc, on the other hand, had a very hot first half of the bowl season, reaching a 9-game streak, but fizzled out near the end and wound up with 21 correct picks.
When the BCS games began, Jim from HailWV appeared to have it all bagged up with 22 correct picks and four games to go. Unfortunately, things didn't go his way in the non-BCS games (that's what he gets for picking Pitt) and he slid all the way down to 6th place. I think he'll be OK, though, with the Orange Bowl win. On the night of the National Championship game, PittScript blogger Bryan led with 25 correct picks, and he was hoping for an LSU victory to seal it up. Right behind him was BearcatsBlog's Scott, who had 24 correct picks, and, interestingly enough, had Alabama winning. Obviously, we all know how the game ended, so it was all up to the tiebreakers. And again, we had another come-from-behind tiebreaker victory.
So congratulations to Scott at BearcatsBlog, for winning the first Big East Blogger Bowl Bonanza! Hopefully we USF fans will have a little more interest in the postseason next year.
