Any real USF fan knows that the Bulls' athletics program is rather unestablished. Yes, they've competed in soccer and baseball for decades, and they're in one of the major conferences in the NCAA, but what the USF athletics department lacks is tradition. It's likely due to the fact that football is what people care about most in college athletics, and South Florida only started playing football less than 15 years ago. In recent years, many fans such as myself have implored the fans to support the Bulls any way they can to build a stronger fanbase and increase awareness of the teams. A bit of national exposure didn't hurt either, with USF jumping up in the football polls in various years and the soccer team succeeding nearly every season, but seats at USF games still remained empty.
Now there's a whole new page dedicated to building up support of the Bulls throughout the entire fanbase in hopes of making a great tradition for future Bulls fans. Building Tradition at USF is an independent site/facebook page that encourages students and alumni to post their ideas of what would be a good foundation for a long-standing Bulls tradition. USF alum Bryan Bejar founded the site recently with the hope of instilling pride in current students and fans, and has since gained a decent following. But before you go thinking this page is just some kid with a website, I've confirmed that there are people upstairs paying attention. The site has contact with the USF athletics department and has teamed up with the USF Alumni Association to gather even more attention.
Ever since discovering the site for myself, I've taken a role in tossing up my own suggestions that I'd been holding onto for a while. BTUSF is open to any suggestions, and they'll pass along the good ones, but please note that this is not a site dedicated to deprecating the university or its athletics. You can have your opinions on who should be fired or who is unqualified for their jobs, but just remember that we're all Bulls and we're all here for the betterment of our program.
