Andrew Barbosa returns for his senior season after his 2011 season was cut short after Tommy John surgery. The former walk-on went just 10 innings, allowing 8 hits, 4 runs, while walking 4 and struck out 13 batters. He had a .9 ERA before going down for the year and will look to return to his 2010 glory and anchor the rotation for Prado this season.

In 2010, Barbosa shocked the Big East with his performance. He went 8-2, working 86.1 innings, allowing 72 hits, 33 runs, while striking out 95 and just walking 22. He had a 2.40 ERA and held opponents to a .228 batting average during the season, showing great control and working down opponents through the season.

Missing 2011 hurt the USF staff and Barbosa will be be limited to start the season after such a big surgery, but he should be able to contribute during the season and helps add big time talent to the starting rotation and brings senior leadership to the young team. A lot of success could be determined by his ability.
