USF 2012 Baseball: Austin Adams

With the 2012 season beginning in under two months, we will begin to look at every returning player for the 2012 team as they prepare for the season ahead. Let's start with the top of the alphabet and look at right handed pitcher Austin Adams.

Austin Adams - 6-2 180-pounds - Junior - RHP

Adams enters this third season for USF. In 2011, he made just 6 appearances in relief, pitching a total of 6 innings. He allowed 4 hits, 7 runs, walked 13 batters and struck out 7, showing a major lack of control. He had a 10.50 ERA and allowed opponents to hit .200.

The 2011 season was much of an improvement for Adams after his 2010 season. He pitched just 4 innings, allowing 4 hits, 10 runs, while walking 10 and striking out 4 (the lack of control is rough). Opponents hit .207 against him, but he did face Florida during his limited outings so that doesn't help.

Adams has to improve his command. He is able to keep the opponent batting average low, but he puts too many people on base with the free passes and has to find his command this season. Prado will need him to share the burden out of the Bulls bullpen this season.
