Thoughts on Big East Contacting UCF

From CBS Sports - News broke last night that the Big East Conference has already contacted UCF. An official invitation has not been extended to them as of now, but dialogue is open and an invitation could come soon.

The Big East is also talking to other programs such as Air Force and Navy, but no invitations have been extended to them either. So what does this mean for USF?

The Best 24 Hours of My Life

To many people, yesterday was just Wednesday. An ordinary weekday. But to me, and many other fans of college sports, the last hours of Tuesday and all day Wednesday were packed with interesting and exciting news regarding certain college programs who we happen to hate here at USF being investigated by the NCAA. Strangely enough, this great 24 hours has absolutely nothing to do with anything USF-related, and that's a good thing. Read more about the thrilling 24 hours after the jump.

It Didn't Take Long for UCF to Start Complaining...

Well, we couldn't just drive over to Orlando and shut off all their computers, could we? After the news broke about Villanova's decision being delayed by the Big East, it didn't take long (if you don't consider two days to write a blog "long") for pro-UCF bloggers to start getting all fidgety while they wait for an invitation that isn't coming. It's sad, really. It sort of makes you think of that kid at the homecoming dance by himself, and the cheerleader comes up looking like she's about to ask him to dance, and then takes the hand of a much better looking guy.

One pro-Knight blogger, Mike Bianchi, wrote a big-boy column all by himself! So congratulations to him, the sky is the limit. Here's the link to it, and feel free to post comments on the page. As a USF fan, it's obvious that I find it hard to be unbiased with something so close to home, but realistically, it just isn't the right fit for this league. Bianchi even had the nerve to play the "Top 25" card. A team that won a sub-par non-AQ conference and beat one of the worst BCS teams in the country for its first ever bowl win and second win over a BCS team in over ten years isn't exactly fit to move up to a BCS conference. I can think of at least thirty teams in the country who were better last season. The double-digit wins are a hallmark of a below-average schedule. Let's not forget, also, that they had a 17-game losing streak six years ago, only to win over Marshall, who finished 4-7.

It's still only a matter of time until Nova actually does get the green light to make their jump. But until then, we're going to have to sit and listen to these posts asking for an invitation. So please, Villanova, if not for yourselves, do it for us, the fans who are tired of hearing other schools think they deserve a shot at our conference.
