Bull Rush Chat Reminder

It's how we feel about conference realignment.
USF fans, we will be having our weekly chat on the Bull Rush Wednesday night from 8 PM to 9 PM (tell everyone about us!!)

We will be chatting about everything out there, but we have a feeling most of you will want to talk about the conference realignment topic and what it will mean for the Bulls, which is a major concern for the university at this stage (barring a miracle in the next 48 hours).

So at 8 PM (EST) log onto the site like always and come chat with us about everything USF and all the conference realignment chatter you can stomach.

Scouting UTEP Special Teams

Return man Vernon Frazier leads the UTEP special teams.
Always our favorite unit to scout, the special teams unit. Special teams have been solid for USF, both on coverage and getting the ball with great field position. The Bulls will have to do the same in this game as they prepare for Big East conference play next week. Here are the players to watch for on the UTEP side.

USF Injury Updates

Here are a few updates on the Bulls injury list. The list is relatively short which is a great sign to see (from Greg Auman).

Wide receiver returned last week after missing the Ball State game with a concussion. He will play Saturday. Cornerback JaQuez Jenkins (hamstring) should return to practice today and should be available for Saturday. Defensive tackle Demi Thompson continues to be out with back issues. There is no set time for his return at this point (emergence of Elkino Watson has helped out there). Cornerback Spencer Boyd has played the last two weeks showing no sign of issues with his knee that he tweaked before the start of the season.

It is great to see the Bulls healthy and need them to be at full strength going ahead.

B.J. Daniels Silencing Critics, So Far

So far, Daniels is playing at a different level this season.
Last season, like many fans, I was critical of B.J. Daniels. Late in the season, as he continued to throw interceptions and mis-read the offense, I was one of the fans that was calling for something to change, whether it was Eveld, Gunsby (when he was here), or a play-calling change, just something.

So far this season (just 3 games of course) I am starting to eat my words and for good reason. B.J. Daniels, in his second consecutive season with Todd Fitch, is simply lighting it up on the stat sheet and leading the Bulls to big wins.

USF 2011-2012 Softball Schedule Released

The 2011-2012 schedule was released today.
The USF softball team released their 2011-2012 schedule tonight and will face off against Florida and Michigan in the first month of the season, both ranked last season and will be major powers in the upcoming season as well.

Click here for the Full Schedule.

USF surprised a lot of teams last season finishing the year at 33-21. Ken Eriksen led his young team to a huge season, but fell short of the NCAA tournament. Freshman pitcher Sara Nevins was unhittable in 2010 and will be a huge weapon this season. Gina Kafalas and the fast offense will look to put a ton of pressure on opponents as the Bulls look for more greatness on the field and the ultimate goal, the NCAA tournament.

We will be covering all the games when the season comes, still over 140 days away, but hey, we can start to get ready for it.

Week 4 Big East Blogger Poll

Another week, another USF victory. As teams ahead of us in the polls continue falling, poll voters keep pushing the Bulls higher and higher, this week to #18 in the AP. USF's standing looks even better in our poll, rising up to #16. I don't like to het to far ahead of USF's potential, so I kept it conservative this week. You can check out my ballot and Matt's ballot after the jump, followed by the composite of all the Big East blogger ballots after the jump.

What is Wrong with Eveld?

Eveld continues to struggle.
While B.J. Daniels continues to progress in year two under offensive coordinator Todd Fitch, his back-up, Bobby Eveld, continues to struggle with the offense.

Eveld looked solid last year, coming off the bench to rally the team to the big win over Miami and then did a solid job in his only start against UCONN. However this season, in limited playing time, Eveld looks worse than ever while Daniels continues to shine. So what is his problem?

Big East Will Live on, Just Not as We Know It

The guys at Big East Coast Bias can rest easy now, just as long as the Big East follows everything exactly as I say it. The Big East is going to lose its nine FBS members; we're beginning to make peace with that. But perhaps the conference was well prepared to be plucked after all, seeing as how they've got eight separate teams that don't play football at the FBS level. It's not going to be pretty, but there's still a fighting chance that the Big East can survive.

Who are the UTEP Coaches?

Time to introduce the coaching staff of UTEP. After facing Joe Taylor (FAMU) last week, the Bulls will take on another experienced head coach that has had a successful coaching career and will pose a challenge for Holtz and his staff.  While the Miners may not a high powered team, they will be well coached and prepared for this game.

Who is UTEP?

Who are the UTEP Miners?
UTEP, member of Conference USA, enters the game with a record at 2-1 (0-1). Last week, they rallied to beat New Mexico State 16 to 10. The Miners had to go to overtime to beat Stony Brook in week one (31 to 24 win) and were beaten by SMU 28 to 17 as well on the season.

UTEP is no offensive monster, so the defense should be able to keep any attack they have in check. The Miners average 21.3 points per game while they hold their opponents to 20.7 points per game (have to see what our offense does in this game). USF hung 70 points last week and 37 the week before, so it will be a tough task to slow the Bulls down here.
