Five Key Match-ups vs. UCONN

Every match-up is key in the game, but here are some of the biggest match-ups to watch for during the game. They could lead to a victory or another defeat for the Bulls.

Chaz Hine vs. Defensive tackle Kendall Reyes

Hines has done a great job (along with the entire offensive line) to keep Daniels upright and getting lane open in the running game. Against Reyes, one of the better defensive tackles in the conference and the 6th ranked rush defense in the country, the front with Hine leading, will be battling to win the trenches. They will have to battle if they want to get anything done on the ground and keep Daniels on his feet.

B.J. Daniels vs. MLB Jory Johnson

Daniels has had a solid start to the season, both throwing and running. He will face a tough challenge with the athletic linebackers led by Johnson. They rank 6th in the country and will be keeping an eye on Daniels the entire game. Daniels has run the zone-read well, but will have to be at his best in this game.

Sterling Griffin vs. Cornerback Dwayne Gratz

Griffin is the primary receiver (Love is probably not 100% either) so look for him to get plenty of passes his way. Gratz is a very aggressive corner that will challenge Griffin all afternoon. While the pass defense for UCONN has been weak all season, they will try to step up and shut down Griffin and other wide receivers.

Ryne Giddins vs. Quarterback Johnny McEntee

Giddins got his first sack last week and will have to get even better this week. The Huskies don't pass much, but when they do drop back, McEntee will have to watch is blind side with Giddins rushing off the corner. The front line for the Bulls has to be strong and Giddins has to continue to lead the way.

Sam Barrington vs. Running back Lyle McCombs

Holtz stated that the linebackers will have to be more aggressive in this game. McCombs is the heart of the offense for the Huskies and with their smashmouth style of football, it will be up to the linebackers to step up, redeem themselves from last week, and stop the UCONN rushing attack. If the Bulls can slow down and stop the rushing game, they will be able to control the tempo and result of the contest.
