USF WBB takes on Miami

The USF ladies, after a huge overtime win over Central Michigan, now face #9 Miami in the Great Alaska Shootout.  The Bulls, 4-2, had to rally late to win but now must face a tough Miami team that had to overcome a physical battle with Alaska Anchorage the other night in their win.  Miami, 3-1, is a balanced lineup that will pose a huge challenge for the Bulls.

Senior guard Riquna Williams (5-7) had 14 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals in the win last night (was averaging 17 points a game entering the tournament).  She is an all around talent that will challenge Kaneisha Saunders and Andrell Smith.  Junior guard Stefanie Yderstrom (5-8) had just 1 rebound and 3 assists in the last game, she was averaging 10.3 points a game, so look for her to rebound.  Junior forward Morgan Stroman (6-1) had 14 points and 4 rebounds.

Senior forward Sylvia Bullock (6-2) had 6 points and 6 rebounds in the last game.  The Bulls have the height advantage with Rowe and McDonald in the paint, so it will be interesting to see if they dominate the paint.  Senior guard Shenise Johnson had 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists (was averaging 20 points and 9 rebounds a game on the season).  Along with Williams, the Canes have a dangerous backcourt.  Sophomore guard Krystal Saunders (5-8) had 7 points as well.

This will be a tough game for the Bulls.  They have the matchups they want inside the paint, but the guard play of Miami will be tough to overcome.  The Bulls will return home after this game to host Stetson on Monday at 7PM in the Rec Center.
