Rush Through the Numbers: Receiving

The USF passing attack introduced a bunch of new weapons to the field. Sterling Griffin and AJ Love returned healthy and newcomers like Andre Davis and Deonte Welch came a huge impact on the field for USF. They receiving corps is loaded for the future and will only get better in the years to come. Let's see what they did in 2011.

Sterling Griffin was the top wide receiver in 2011, despite only playing 8 games due to an ankle injury. He led the team with 43 receptions for 530 yards and 3 touchdowns (long reception of 42 yards). He averaged 12.3 yards per reception, showing his speed and ability to turn up field quickly. Victor Marc had 33 reception sfor 357 yards and 2 touchdowns. He only had 1 reception for 13 yards in 2010, so a big break out season for him.

Deonte Welch impressed in his redshirt freshman season. He had 31 catches for 433 yards and 1 touchdown, averaging 14 yards per catch. He has incredible speed and just finds a way to get up the field. Evan Landi had 29 receptions for 390 yards and 2 touchdowns, making the switch to tight end but still making the big receptions down the field. True freshman Andre Davis got a chance to shine early. He had 22 receptions for 273 yards and 2 touchdowns in the start to his bright career.

Demetris Murray had 18 receptions for 205 yards out of the backfield. Darrell Scott also had 15 receptions for 169 yards and a touchdown. Lindsey Lamar had 11 receptions for 157 yards and 3 touchdowns. Andreas Shields had 11 receptions for 144 yards and a touchdown. AJ Love had 9 receptions for 122 yards and a touchdown as he battled nagging injuries in his final season as a Bull.

Terrence Mitchell had 7 receptions for 60 yards before missing the rest of the year with that concussion. Joel Miller had 6 receptions for 58 yards in his final season. Freshman Ruben Gonzalez had 5 receptions for 55 yards. Stephen Bravo-Brown had 4 for 34 yards.
