The USF running game carried the load this season for USF. The Bulls were among the best in the conference in rushing the ball thanks to a healthy B.J. Daniels, new comer Darrell Scott, and a great offensive line that allowed the Bulls to run down the field. Let's see who did the most damage on the ground this season.
Darrell Scott was the leading rusher this season for USF. The former Buffalo sat out last season, but put on a show in his first season although battled a few injuries along the way. Scott carried the rock 153 times for 824 yards, including 5.3 yards per carry and a long run of 56 yards, finishing up with 5 touchdowns on the season.
B.J. Daniels was the next leading rusher as Todd Fitch allowed him to use his legs more this year. He carried the ball 132 times for 769 yards and 6 touchdowns. He had a long run of 71 yards and averaged 4.6 yards per carry. He had just 423 yards and 5 touchdowns last season, showing his health this season and the strong offensive line.
Demetris Murray as another solid back, splitting carries and showing a nice burst of speed in the open field. He has 121 carries for 527 yards (4.2 per carry) and 8 touchdowns (a long run of 31 yards). He had 573 yards last season and 4 touchdowns while splitting carries with Mo Plancher.
The rest of the running backs never got much of a chance during the season as Scott, Murray, and Daniels carried the load. Lindsey Lamar had 17 runs for 150 yards, being used more in reverses. Victor Marc had 8 carries for 83 yards and a touchdown. Marcus Shaw had 20 carries for 72 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was suspended for one game, but never got a chance to really show his speed on the field.
