Mark Snyder Leaving USF for Texas A&M job

From Greg Auman and Bulls 247 - News broke today that defensive coordinator, Mark Snyder, will be leaving USF for the defensive coordinator job at Texas A&M University, according to Bulls 247, Greg Auman, Skip Holtz himself, and other sources.

Snyder, who has been at USF for two years, will join new Aggie coach Kevin Sumlin as the Aggies move from the Big 12 to the SEC. Snyder made $260,000 with the Bulls last year and should look to receive a pay increase (former TAMU DC Tim DeRuyter made $550,000 - per GA).

Snyder joined USF in 2010 after spending the last 5 years as the head coach of Marshall. Before that he was an assistant coach and then the defensive coordinator at Ohio State before leaving to Marshall.

2011 was a struggle for the defensive unit for the Bulls. USF allowed 20 points per game and 317 yards in 2010, but allowed 22.7 points a game and 351 yards a game, including several 4th quarter meltdowns that allowed opponents to win games in which USF was leading or had a chance to win.

This is not the best timing for USF as National Signing Day looms and Winter conditioning begins for the players. USF will now have to begin their search for a coordinator or even promote from within. We will have more information when it becomes available.
