USF Football to Add Walk-on Safety

From Greg Auman - The Bulls received word that a new member would be joining the team this year as a preferred walk-on.  Safety Carl Williams, who played for IAA South Alabama last year, will join the Bulls this summer as a preferred walk-on.  According to GA, he plans on attending a community college this spring and will then transfer to USF, sitting out the 2012 season but will have 3 years of eligibility to play for the Bulls.

The 6-0 205-pound former 3-star prospect was one of the top recruits out of the Jacksonville area.  He was recruited highly by several programs including South Carolina, Arkansas, WVU, USF, UCONN, Syracuse, but eventually went to Illinois, but de-committed late, which forced him to turn to IAA South Alabama.

Williams will be given a spot on the roster, but not a scholarship.  He has a chance to earn one such as Stephen Bravo-Brown and Bobby Eveld did last year.  Williams also helps add depth to the safety position that will be a little thin after this season with Jon Lejiste graduating after the year.
