The USF ladies got a huge win over Cincinnati, 58 to 53, to open Big East play and improve their record to 9-6 (1-0) on the season. The ladies were down at the end of the first half, but the defense dictated the tempo in the second half and came away with a huge win in conference play.
Tahira Johnson had 2 points and 2 rebounds on the night. Jasmine Wynne had 16 points to lead USF once again, adding 3 rebounds and an assist. Caitlin Rowe had 4 points and 5 rebounds. Tiffany Conner had 6 rebounds and 3 assists to help the offense.
Shalethia Stringfield, making her second straight start, added 8 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists. Kaneisha Saunders had 13 points off the bench. Andrell Smith had 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. Sasha Bernard and Akila McDonald had 4 points and 3 rebounds each as well.
This is a huge win for the ladies, getting their first conference opener since 2007. Now they will return home to take on the tough Georgetown team on Saturday evening at the Rec Center, game starts at 7PM.
