USF WBB Opens Big East with Cincinnati

The USF ladies () open up the Big East portion of their schedule as they hit the road again to take on Cincinnati (game starts at 7PM). The Bearcats are 9-5 (0-1) this season, including 5-2 at home. They are a balanced team that will push USF.

Cincinnati is led by sophomore guard Dayeesha Hollins (5-6) who is averaging 14.4 points per game (37% from 3-point range), 4.3 rebounds per game, and 3.6 assists per game. Senior guard Bjonee Reaves (5-6) is averaging 14 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, and 3.5 assists per game (does average 3.4 turnovers a game, so ball control is key). Hollins and Reaves give the Bearcats a dynamic backcourt that can score at will and also set up the rest of the offense.

Senior guard/forward Chanel Chisholm (5-11) is averaging 9.4 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game. Sophomore Tiffany Turner (6-1) is averaging 8.9 rebounds per game and 7.9 rebounds per game, posing the biggest threat inside against McDonald and Rowe. Sophomore guard Kayla Cook (5-10) is averaging 8.9 points per game and 3.1 rebounds per game as well.

The Bearcats tend to stick with the starters for a majority of the minutes in each game. Freshman guard Alyesha Lovett (6-0) is averaging 4.1 points per game and 2.2 rebounds per game. Sophomore forward Jeanise Randolph is averaging 5.4 points per game and 4.7 rebounds per game.

This will be a big test for the Bulls as they begin conference play. They are only a game away from adding Inga Orekhova to the roster, who should help boost the offense (just in time). But for this game and for the rest of the schedule ahead, the Bulls must improve their shooting percentage and turnover issue. The Bearcats will be the first test.
