The USF ladies pushed DePaul to overtime and rallied to get the huge upset win over the 21st ranked Demons, 66 to 63! The Bulls shot 42% from the floor, holding DePaul to 34% and forced 23 turnovers during the game.
USF had a chance to win the game in regulation, but could not hit the free throw at the end of regulation, giving the crowd an extra 5 minutes of basketball before the team came away with the big win. This is huge for the team and coach Fernandez as they continue the tough stretch of conference play.
Jasmine Wynne had 16 points with 5 assists and 8 rebounds. Tiffany Conner had 3 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. Cailtin Rowe had 8 points and 6 rebounds. Inga Orekhova had 13 points, including the first three of the game to get the scoring started for USF.
Tiffany Johnson had 2 points and 4 rebounds. Kaneisha Saunders had 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, giving Fernandez a huge boost off the bench. Akila McDonald had 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks, providing another spark down the stretch to help get the win.
The Bulls are now 11-8 (3-2) on the season, improving in each game. The ladies will next face another ranked team with Rutgers as the Knights come to town on Saturday night (game at 7PM). The game will be at the Rec Center once again, so get it rocking!
