Scouting Cincinnati: Defense

Time to take a look at the Cincinnati defense. The Bulls have faced the 3-4 defense, 4-3 defense, but this time around, they face a different defensive scheme, the nickel package. The Bearcats typically only use 2 linebackers and substitute another defensive back in the secondary to either play in coverage or to help create new blitz schemes. Let's see the personnel Cincinnati brings to this game.

Who is Cincinnati?

The Bulls couldn't figure out how to win a game on the road last Saturday, dropping to 4-2 (0-2) on the season (blame the weather right?). Now the Bulls return home to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats on homecoming weekend. The Bulls are desperate for a win after starting the season well. The offense is tanking at the worst time while the defense struggles to keep it together.

Who are the Cincinnati Coaches?

Time to get to know the coaching staff of the Cincinnati Bearcats. The Bulls have faced several first year coaches, but Skip Holtz will face a coach that is in the same situation as him, entering his second season at the helm.

Bold Prediction: USF vs. UCONN

Time to make a bold prediction for this game. We have been off recently in our predictions and the game against Pitt just ruined it even more. This time, we will go by the numbers to make our bold pick:

B.J. Daniels Throws for 300 yards

Nothing too crazy to predict. Daniels has done it on several occasions this season andis facing a pass defense that gave up over 400 yards last week to WVU. The Huskies load up the box to stop the run, so if the USF rushing attack can't get going, look for Fitch to put the ball in the hands of Daniels and let him throw down the field to Griffin and others.

Let's hope we are right for a change.

My Short Conversation with Scott from Bearcats Blog

Last week I received an email from one of my fellow Big East bloggers, Scott from the Bearcats Blog. The email contained a request to fill out a short questionnaire about various subjects ranging from sports to movies to taking a shower on a road trip. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to be a part of it, and I'd like to thank Scott for including me. You can read my responses to his questions here and also follow him on twitter and like the Bearcats Blog on facebook. Feel free to comment on his post, or come back here and tell me what you think about my responses.

End of Spring Top 25

With the conclusion of spring practices last weekend, we fans have a long summer of anticipation ahead of us with no football talk until summer practices begin. I spent last summer on the couch every day looking for recruiting news and waiting for ESPN to start talking college football. Take my advice: don't do that. Sure, you'll be well-informed and know pretty much everything there is to know around the world of college football, but you'll lose your mind with the anticipation of football season. Of course, there are just 112 days until USF kicks off in South Bend, but if I don't learn to be patient, I don't think I'll even make it to September 3rd. The best way we here at TBR had to cope with the suffering of waiting was to compose our own Top 25. By the beginning of the season we're going to have input from bloggers all around the Big East, but for now we're going solo. So, without any more delay, check out where we placed the Top 25 teams in the nation after the jump.
