USF 2012 Baseball: Todd Brazeal

Todd Brazeal - 6-3 230-pounds - Senior (RH) - 1st baseman

Todd Brazeal enters his final season as a big time power threat for the USF lineup. He his .258 last season with 5 home runs, and drove 36 runs to anchor the center of the Bulls lineup. He walked 24 times and struck out 53 times, gaining a .367 OBP. The strike out numbers are still too high for him, he has to show more patience at the plate and see more pitches, getting on base more consistently.  Brazeal is coming off of ACL surgery after injuring his knee in the Fall, but has made great progress and should be ready to help the lineup this season, but may be limited to start the year.

Brazeal hit .277 last season with 5 home runs and drove in 39 runs during the 2010 season. He walked 18 times, but struck out 42 times, something he has to improve on and show more patience at the plate (had a .382 OBP during the season). His OBP and BA dropped, showing the lack of hits and the lack of pitches he was not able to get to. He has to see more pitches and get on base more to help a lineup that will need the power this season.

Prado needs Brazeal to be healthy this season to anchor the lineup and bring his bat to the field each day.
