Leavitt Headed to San Fracisco

From Greg Auman and ESPN - Former USF head coach Jim Leavitt has joined the San Francisco 49er's as their new linebacker coach. Leavitt finally reached a settlement with USF and is now headed to the West Coach to get back into coaching.

Leavitt was always a defensive minded coach and great teacher and should be a good fit in the NFL and with the 49er's. New head coach Jim Harbaugh is a tough coach and demands fundamentals and toughness, something Leavitt will bring to the linebacking corps, a unit that is already solid (Patrick Willis).

There were some talks that Leavitt could end up with Kansas State, where he began his coaching roots and eventually take over once Bill Snyder decides to retire again. This is still a possibility for Leavitt, the linebacker coach position could be a one and done deal before Leavitt heads back to the college ranks, but his move to San Francisco should be a good one for him as he gets back to what he loves to do, coach.

Good luck to Leavitt.
