Isaac Virgin will make an impact this season. |
The Bulls offense looks to get back on track in 2011 and one player that wasn't featured in 2010 is wide receiver Isaac Virgin. Virgin is a very versatile athlete that can play at wide receiver, tight end, special teams, and even line up in the backfield. He is an incredible athlete and could be a hidden weapon entering 2011.
Virgin (6'4" 249-pounds) is a big freshman that is currently listed as a wide receiver, but coaches have said he could be a tight end or even fill in at H-back for the Bulls. He was a highly regarded talent coming out of high school, listed as the 91st ranked athlete in the country when he was recruited (by ESPN and 2-star recruit by Rivals.com).
Virgin gives the quarterback a huge target downfield. He has incredible hands and is very athletic, running great routes and fighting for the ball. He has above average speed and can get away from linebackers (if they are even able to match-up with his size in space). Virgin had only 1 catch for 19 yards in 2010 as the coaches constantly moved players around to new positions.
Entering the 2011 season, Virgin could be a big time weapon that no one seems to be talking about for the Bulls. He has the skill set, the size, and the playmaking ability to give the Bulls a huge weapon that will have defenses worried when he lines up. But the question remains, how big of a role will he play? It is hard to tell at this point before Fall practices and the final roster positions come out, but he will be on the field in 2011 and will make an impact.
