What grade does Hugh Robertson get? (Picture:www.gousfbulls.com)

Time to take a look at guard Hugh Robertson. Robertson transferred to USF from Tallahassee Community College and immediately made the starting lineup and started in all 31 games this season for the Bulls. He played well and showed glimpses of his great shooting ability. So what grade does he get for his work this season? [keep reading]

Robertson (6'6" 202-pounds) transferred to USF from Tallahassee C.C. and was put into the starting lineup in the opening game. Robertson averaged 8.4 points per game (shooting 40% from the field). he also averaged 4.4 rebounds per game and 1.6 assists per game (starting most of the games from the shooting guard position).

On offense, Robertson is an average shooter from 3-point range. He never looks for the long shot, but moves well without the ball and can fire when open. He is more comfortable shooting mid-range jumpers and matching up with slower defenders. He has the ability to drive to the hoop, but does not attack enough and often goes quiet from the field for long stretches of the game.

On defense, Robertson is solid, but not very aggressive. He has the footwork and speed to stay in front of any ball handler and can create pressure. He does not go for the steal very often, but plays sound defense. He has great footwork and can fight through screens to stay with his man.

Robertson was too quiet at times and didn't show up in big time games. He has the ability to shoot the lights out, but he can be dominated as well by bigger defenders because of his small size. Robertson will have to put on some weight and hit the gym this off season to get stronger and become more assertive on offense and take over a game like he can. Robertson will be a senior next season and will have to step his game up if he wants to make a lasting impression.

Final grade: B-
