Gunsby Leaving the Team

Quarterback Jamius Gunsby is leaving the football program this Spring (Picture: usfnation.com)
From Greg Auman and Adam Adkins - Freshman quarterback Jamius Gunsby is leaving the team this Spring to focus on academics (from Adam Adkins).

Gunsby, the 6'4" 235-pound signal-caller is leaving the team for the Spring to focus on academics. Reportedly (from Greg Auman) Gunsby personally asked Coach Holtz to leave the team so he could put all of his focus into academics. Gunsby could be eligible to return to the roster in the Fall if his academics are up to standard.

This is sort of a surprise, but an understandable one. Gunsby obviously wants to focus on his grades and feels that football may take his time away from class, in that case, class is much more important. Gunsby needs to take care of business before playing a game. From the football aspect of it, its sad to see a strong quarterback like him leave the team. He would probably have been the 3rd string quarterback, behind Daniels and Eveld, but has plenty of talent. The former 3-star recruit out of LaGrange, Georiga has all the skills needed, but is putting that in the rearview mirror now.

Good luck to Mr. Gunsby and his academics. I hope he is able to get his grades to his liking and maybe he can return to the program.
