Wide receiver Andre Davis - 6-1 180-pounds - Tampa, Florida
This is sure to cause a few fans to scratch their heads and wonder if I am a losing my mind, but try to understand why he is this high on the list coming into the fall for incoming freshman.
Davis, the 3-star receiver, is a big time possession type receiver. He uses his hands and body well, shielding himself away from defender and is not afraid to go across the middle. He does not have elite speed and needs to add some weight, but he will become a quarterbacks best friend super fast.
Entering the fall, the Bulls have questions at wide receiver. A.J. Love and Sterling Griffin are coming off of big injuries and Griffin looked rusty in spring (Love didn't even play in spring). Terrence Mitchell is in his first year at wide receiver, Lamar is coming off of shoulder surgery and Evan Landi is not a big time speed player (converted safety).
Davis has been working hard and taking notes as he prepares for the fall camps and I personally think he will get a chance to play if he is able to prove himself in the fall. He is a more pure receiver than Ruben Gonzalez and has the potential to be a big downfield threat due to his route running and smooth play.
So what do you think USF family? Is Andre Davis going to make an impact this season?
Hey Matt, any news on Michael Mcfarland, the TE from Florida?
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, Davis will definitely turn some heads as a true freshman, count on it.
Nothing new on MacFarland yet. Still could go to I-A or II-A program, should know more in a week or so on his decision. Would nice pick up for USF, but nothing as of now.
ReplyDeleteI think his name is "Andre," not "Andrew."
ReplyDeleteThanks for catching the typo.
