Fernandez Lands Two Commitments for 2012

Coach Jose Fernandez is already building a strong recruiting class for 2012.
From Adam Adkins - Coach Jose Fernandez is already working on his recruiting class of 2012.  While everyone has their eyes on football, the basketball programs are already at work preparing for the future and Fernandez has landed some talented recruits. [keep reading]

Fernandez has added two recruits for his 2012 class. Guard Courtney Williams from Charleston County, Georgia will join the Bulls next year helping to replace the void left behind when Andrea and Andrell Smith graduate from USF.

Williams is simply an incredible player. The 5-8 guard was recently named the Regional 2-A player after leading Charlton County to the state title and averaged 27.5 PPG, 12 RPG, 7 APG, and 4 steals per game. She is very athletic, can get her own shot and help facilitate on the court, making her the ideal commander on the court.

She came away impressed with the new Muma Center and the soon to be completed Sun Dome (new facilities are already paying off for this team). Williams had offers from Maryland, Georgetown, Clemson, Auburn and even Washington, so this is a huge pick-up and statement for Fernandez and the program.

Fernandez isn't done yet. Guard Shavonate Naylor, a 5-9 guard from Southwest Atlantic Christian Academy in Georgia (seems a lot of players from Georgia are coming to USF these days). Naylor tore her ACL, but is expected to be healthy for the 2011-2012 season and then will be ready for USF.

Williams and Naylor are great commitments for Fernandez and the program and will make it two straight years of great incoming talent for USF.

The 2011 class has talented JUCO guard Inga Orekhova (6-2) who averaged 19.2 points last season for NEO, 6-4 Australian center Caitlin Rowe who adds size and rebounding in the paint, and Shalethia Stringfield, a talented guard, who are all incoming members of the 2011 class.
