Notes From USF Practice - Day 18

JaQuez Jenkins continues to get playing time in nickel packages as an extra cornerback.
From Adam Adkins and Greg Auman - After a full scrimmage yesterday and battling the rain, the Bulls returned to campus yesterday to get the last full day to practice in for the Fall camp before returning to class, starting Monday (makes me glad I am an alum).

Running back Marcus Shaw continued to impress for the coaching staff and seems to be winning the job as the third running back on the depth chart. Sophomore Bradley Battles is getting better and having better practices, but the job seems to be Shaw's to lose at this point.

Cornerback Spencer Boyd was out of practice again today with his knee in a brace. He tweaked it the other day at practice and he could use a few more days of rest with his knee in bad shape. Trainers were working with him and are hopeful he will be back soon, he was slated for the 3rd cornerback spot if he continued to play.

The Bulls are using sophomore JaQuez Jenkins in nickel packages, coming in as the 5th defensive back. This is a nice move by the coaching staff to get a very talented defensive back on the field (so many safeties on the roster makes it hard to get him on the field).

Thor Jozwiak (shoulder) and George Baker (groin) both missed practice, but overall the aches and pains from Vero don't seem to be major and most of the players are at full health or will ready to go for the season.

The players return to class today (like everyone else) and will continue to practice on campus through the week. Just 13 days away until we beat the Irish!

  1. ND should be a good game. If we keep it close I will be happpy. If we win, I'm going to lose my mind.

  2. We have the potential to win the game. ND has some depth issues in their linebacking and front line units, haven't picked a QB (might be hiding it too). We can win this game. I agree, if we win, I will go crazy.
