Bulls have a scrimmage tomorrow, see who you should be watching during the action. |
The Bulls will have an open scrimmage tomorrow in Vero Beach as they continue their 12-day camp away from Tampa. The Bulls have had a solid camp thus far, injuries being minor and the players learning fast and hitting hard. This scrimmage will be a key one to see how some of the younger players are developing and how some of the entrenched starters are doing as they look to maintain their jobs and take it to another level. Here are 10 players (5 on offense and 5 on defense) that people should be watching on the field this scrimmage (once post game notes become available we will compare and see how the team did and looked on the field). [keep reading]
OffenseBobby Eveld and Matt Floyd
With Daniels most likely out for this scrimmage, this is a huge chance for both young quarterbacks to get a lot of snaps under center with the first and second team offense. Eveld showed last season he can take over if needed and Floyd showed early in Spring that he can play. It should be interesting to see what they can do with more snaps and a full scrimmage.
Darrell Scott
The much hyped running back has been quiet through camp (not hearing from GA or AA through most of it). With Aycock leaving the team, the Bulls will rely more on him and the hype surrounding him in the running game. He will look to take snaps from Murray as the season comes.
A.J. Love
Love missed a few practices with swelling in his knee, but has since returned to the field and is making great plays to the ball. The 6th year senior is a huge piece of the offense this season and it seems he has something to prove this season, good news for us.
Quinterrius Eatmon
The big freshman surprised everyone when he was listed as the starting right tackle and will look to continue to battle for the starting role. Having a freshman on the line is a bit scary, but it seems he can handle it, at least so far.
Terrence Mitchell
Some debate has sprung up if he should be moved back to cornerback (thank Bullspen for that one). Mitchell is a speed receiver and could be a huge X-factor this season if the Bulls can get the ball in his hands in open space.
Defense
Curtis Weatherspoon
The senior outside linebacker has taken a lot of snaps at SAM linebacker position, beating out talented freshman Reshard Cliett who was listed ahead of him coming out of the Spring. It should be interesting to see if he can hold onto that spot.
Ryne Giddins
Hype surrounding the talented pass rusher has never been higher and the Bulls need him to get it going. He has all the ability in the world and has to continue to push and live up to the talent and need for him this season.
Kenneth Durden
The Bulls are looking for depth at corner and as I mentioned before Durden has a chance to step up and get onto the field early and often this season. Durden has shown some flashes and could continue to impress and get onto the field.
Mark Joyce
The Bulls are loaded at safety with Young and Lejiste, but Joyce is too talented not to get on the field and the coaches are raving about him. Look for the Deland star to continue to progress in his sophomore year.
Luke Sager
The Bulls are looking for pass rush and run stopping on defensive line and Sager is in the mix for a starting job at defensive tackle. With players like McClain gone from last season, the Bulls need the veteran players to continue to step up their play.
The scrimmage will be a great chance for all of the units to get a real simulated game together for really the first time at camp. It will also help the coaches begin to develop their post-fall depth chart which will reflect how the team will look heading to South Bend. If you are in the area, go check out the scrimmage, it should be a lot of fun and of course stay tuned to The Bull Rush for all the post-scrimmage wrap-up and analysis.
Who will you be watching tomorrow?
