Let's break it down.  Quarterback and running back spots are no surprise on the depth chart.  Love, Griffin, and surprisingly Miller are listed as the starting receivers.  Deonte Welch and Stephen Bravo-Brown are listed as the back-ups to Love and Griffin.  Victor Marc is listed behind Miller.  It is odd that Terrence Mitchell and Lindsey Lamar are not listed on the two-deep at receiver.
Evan Landi is ahead of Andreas Shields at tight end, but both will get plenty of playing time. Popek and Warren make up the left side.  Chaz Hine is the starting center, after working in the Fall at the spot, edging out McCaskill.  Esternor and Eatmon make up the right side, edging out Edwards and even McCaskill.  McCaskill is very versatile, but seems to have been beaten so far in the depth chart.
On defense, Ryne Giddins and Patrick Hampton take over the defensive end spots.  Cory Grissom and Keith McCaskill are the starting defensive tackles, with Sager and Watson (true freshman) get the top reserve spots.  It is odd not to see Todd Chandler, a highly regarded recruit just two years ago, is not making any strides.
Sam Barrington gets the nod at middle linebacker, instead of strong side.  Reshard Cliett gets the strong side start, edging out senior Curtis Weatherspoon.  Lattimore is at weakside.  Washington and Webster are the starting with Ernie Tabuteau and JaQuez Jenkins, getting the edge at the reserve spots (seems like the coaches are not sold on the other corners yet).  Lejiste and Young are the starting safeties with Butler and Joyce getting the second team behind them.
Special teams gets a change as well.  Justin Brockhaus-Kann gets the starting shot at punter (Ciabatti is breathing down his neck at this point).  Bonani is the starting place kicker and freshman Marvin Kloss gets the job as the kickoff specialist.  Lamar is listed at kick return and Mitchell is listed at punt return.
So there you have it.  Ciabatti, Esternor, Love and Griffin are now on the depth chart with Lamar and Mitchell missing in action.  We will have some wrap up on this tomorrow and sort through more of the changes.

  2. I think this depth chart won't hold all game in south bend.. I believe the real depth chart will be solidified after UTEP. You heard it here first

  3. Even good old Joel Miller at the slot receiver position.

  4. Victor Marc will be starting at slot by that time...keep in mind Joel Miller has game experience at slot that's it

  5. Most likely. Could see Lamar take that spot as well, interesting that he, along with T-Rex, are not listed at two-deep wide receivers.

  6. Lamar won't be the starter ever, he's more of a situation type player... Mitchell I believe trains with outside receivers, he would never be in the 2-deep (yet) because he is still learning

  7. Mitchell does, still needs a lot of work, but speed is there and he will get out there. I disagree with Lamar, I think with more chances, could be dynamic at the slot, his size is equal to other skill players out there.

  8. Idk ( I purposely used it) Lamar lacks the sure hand to catch that's the only knock why I keep him on screen passes, option and reverses and what not.. Mitchell will be out there no doubt but he's not starter polished yet.. I have the same reasoning for Andre Davis & Ruben Gonzalez but they will get significant playing time. They need to be eased into it, not rused
