Sterling Griffin Emerging

Sterling Griffin is having a great start to the 2011 season after missing the entire 2010 season.
Last year, the Bulls lost two of their top receivers to injury before the season began, A.J. Love and Sterling Griffin.

While both are back healthy and contributing this season, Griffin has raised his level of play this year and has become a primary target for B.J. Daniels early in the season. While he continues to throw the ball to a lot of different receivers, Griffin continues to lead the team and is poised for even bigger numbers.

In 2009, Griffin made a splash with his memorable 74-yard touchdown against FSU. He finished with 14 receptions for 265 yards and 2 touchdowns, solid numbers in a freshman season and the future seemed bright for 2010 until his injury.

This season, Griffin has emerged and is already close to hitting those numbers in 2009 in just the first 4 games of the season. He has 20 receptions for 224 yards and one touchdown already, leading all USF receivers.

Griffin is showing everyone why he played in his freshman season and all of his potential now that he is healthy. He is not the biggest receiver, but has great hands, eludes the tackle and has more than enough speed to get down the field and get to the end zone.

With the passing game flourishing right now for USF, Griffin among others will continue to get the ball fast (loving the up-tempo yet?). Griffin is poised for a huge season and if the numbers indicate anything, he is already on his way.
