USF Soccer Takes on Bradley

The Bulls, recently ranked 8th in the country by the AP (3-0-0 on the season) will travel up North to take on Bradley in the Dartmouth Tournament (game is scheduled for 4:30 PM).

Bradley (3-0-1) has been ranked 23rd by topdrawersoccer.com and will prove to be a tough match up for the Bulls.

Bradley has already knocked off a ranked opponent, beating then 21st ranked Butler in their own stadium, so this will be a very close match. Bradley averages 2 goals per game (high offense) while shutting opponents down, allowing just .7 goals per game against them. They have taken 72 shots on the season while just allowing 55 goals against them, showing the play of their defense and goalkeeper. Here are the players to watch in this game.

Bradley is led by senior forward Bryan Gaul (6-5 202-pounds). He has 4 goals already on the season and has added 2 assists. Senior forward Christian Meza (6-2 190-pounds) has 2 goals and 2 assists on the season (high scoring front line for the Bradley Braves). Junior forward/midfielder Cecil Jeffrey (6-0 158-pounds) has 1 goal and 1 assist as well this season.

Freshman defender Alexi Davies-Campbell (5-11 165-pounds) has 1 goal on the season. Sophomore midfielder Jason Coon (5-10 167-pounds) has played in all 4 games so far for the Braves. Junior forward Jochen Graf (6-0 180-pounds) has 1 assist on the season and has taken 5 shots. Sophomore forward Scott Davis (5-7 150-pounds) has also played in all 4 games to start the season.

Sophomore Brian Billings is in the net for the Braves (6-2 196-ponds). He has allowed 3 goals this season while stopping 14 shots (.824%). He also has one shut out on the season.

So what can the Bulls do in this game? This is going to be a very tough test for them if they want to get to 4-0 on the season. Bradley attacks often, takes a lot of shots, and plays outstanding defense. Chris Blais will have to be at this best in the net for the Bulls. Dwyer, Paul, and company will have to dictate the tempo of the game in the very beginning, not allowing Bradley to control the pace of the game and execute what they want. It should be a very good game.
