| FAMU is known more for their famous Marching 100 band, let's hope they don't try to get onto the field to help the football team. |
FAMU is a member of the MEAC conference and is 1-1 on the season. The Rattlers lost last week 17 to 23 to Hampton and won their first game of the season 28 to 22 over Fort Valley State.
They finished last season at 8-3 and were 7-1 in conference play, so they are a team that is use to winning, but facing USF is going to be a different kind of test for them and the Bulls should have the upper hand in this match up.
FAMU is only averaging 40.5 yards a game rushing in their first two games of the season, so the defensive line and linebackers will have to make sure they continue to struggle on the ground. They are also allowing 107.5 yards per game rushing for opponents so the backfield of Darrell Scott and Demetris Murray should be able to have some success running (offensive line is bigger than their 3-4 set).
FAMU is relying on the passing game a lot so far, averaging 268.5 yards passing in their first two games, so the No Fly Zone team will have to shut down the passing game and keep everything in front of them. The Rattlers defense is allowing 307 yards passing per game so Daniels coming off of a career high passing against Ball State, should have another big game if he continues to progress in the offense.
Overall, this is not a very explosive FAMU team that has issues and holes on defense. The Bulls have had a lot of success in the past over FCS schools and against FAMU, so they should be able to get a solid win here as long as they stay focused and do their job. The Bulls need to use this game to continue to develop the offense and get the defense ready for the Big East portion of the schedule.
