Youth Contributing Big for USF

Andre Davis and other freshman are contributing early this season.
Last week, the USF coaching staff got to mix in a lot of their reserve players to get them valuable snaps on the field against FAMU. One player that stood out in just their second game was freshman wide receiver Andre Davis.

Davis, out of Jefferson High School, is one of the local talents that Holtz has talked about keeping home. Holtz has made it clear he wants to "build a fence" around the area to keep the local talent here and Davis is one of the first elite talents to play at home.

The 6-1 200-pound receiver is a top level receiver that has risen in the depth chart (which is stacked) and if what we saw on Saturday night is any indication of what his future holds, then USF is in luck.

Davis recorded 3 receptions for 39 yards including his first (of many) touchdown receptions. He also blocked a punt on special teams and picked up the ball for another score. He earned Big East Honor Roll mentions, probably the first of many.

Davis is just one of many freshman that are getting a lot of playing time and will play key roles not only during this season but for the future of the program. Players like Ruben Gonzalez, Elkino Watson, Tye Turner and Davis are making early strides in their playing careers and have the fans excited for the future.
