Rush Through the Roster: Jawanza Poland

(Picture: www.gousfbulls.com)
We now take a look at explosive guard Jawanza (JAWANA!!!!) Poland. Poland burst onto the scene last year, wowing the crowd with his incredible athleticism both on dunks and swatting away opponents shots.

Poland will miss 4 to 6 weeks as he recovers from a back injury, but should be near full health once the season begins. Let's see the numbers behind the fan favorite.

Jawanza Poland - 6'4" 200-pounds - Junior - Guard

Last season: Poland transferred from Hutchinson Community College last season and made a big impact for Heath in his first season. Poland started 22 of the 33 games, averaging 9.1 points per game and coming now with 2.6 rebounds per game. Poland made a name for himself with his ability to finish at the rim and play aggressive defense.

Outlook for this season: Being sidelined for up to 6 weeks to start the season hurts his chances to get the starting job at the beginning of the year, but his incredible athletic ability will get him on the court. He seems to have springs in his knees and can jump with anyone in the Big East. He is not the greatest shooter from the floor, but hustles hard and plays great defense, so he is a great player that can either start or provide a huge spark off the bench.
