The Bulls may be without three receivers when they head to face UCONN on Saturday.
Listening to the Skip Holtz radio show, he explained the process in detail of how Terrence Mitchell is progressing after his concussion. He has passed the tests from the doctors, but is re-evaluated everyday to see if there are any setbacks. He undergoes a series of physical tests, making sure he can go for a solid 30 minutes to start with, but he also undergoes a series of mental tests, making sure he is going to class, functioning, doing homework, and living a normal routine. So far he is doing well in the testing, but has not been able to return to a full practice due to the process of the testing, so the chances of him playing Saturday are lower than slim right now. Look for him to be ready around homecoming.
A.J. Love has been dealing with a sore ankle that has slowed him down during practice. Coaches are taking it easy on him and might limit him if he does play at UCONN. Love has not been a big target in the passing game this season, but has done a solid job blocking. If he can't play, look for the younger receivers like Andre Davis and Ruben Gonzalez to get playing time.
Derrick Hopkins, the Big East track star, is also questionable due to a boot on his right foot that has kept him out of practice. While he possess the speed, Hopkins has not made a play this season, so having him out for this game does not hurt the depth chart.
The USF passing game is going to be a big factor in the game against the Huskies. They are allowing 278.4 yards a game through the air and news came the other day that starting cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson will miss this game, so the Huskies will be very depleted and young in the secondary. Daniels will have to find all his targets down the field, despite having several of them injured.
