USF Ties Rutgers, Wins Red Division

After being snowed out on Sunday, the Bulls battled Rutgers to a double overtime tie, 0-0. The tie gives USF a regular season record of 12-2-3 (7-0-2) and gives them the outright Red Division of the Big East, making it the second title in program history.

Neither team could get any offense going. Dwyer only had two shots on the afternoon as the defense came to play in this hard fought game. The Bulls got 3 yellow cards on the afternoon, but were able to keep it together and battle. Chris Blais recorded another shutout game as the Bulls ended October without a loss.

This is a huge win for Kiefer and the program. The Bulls finished an unreal regular season, but can't celebrate for too long, there is still a lot of work left to be done. The Bulls will return home to host the Big East quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon at 1PM (Corbett Stadium). USF could face Villanova in the first round, but it has yet to be determined.

No matter who USF faces, we need everyone and their grandmother to get to Corbett Sunday afternoon to cheer on the Bulls. This is an incredible team that plays hard and always puts on a show. They will need the energy of the crowd to keep them going as they look to the postseason and more victories.

  1. Check out the story on GoUSFBulls.com that will be up soon. USF had a heck of a time just getting to New Jersey with all the storms.

  2. I can only imagine with all the snow they had up there, but huge tie and Red Division win for them.
