Bulls Get Thinner at Wide Receiver

From Greg Auman - Remember at the beginning of the season when the Bulls had too many receivers on the depth chart? Neither do we. USF is now dealing with two more issues at wide receiver that will be leaving them even more thin at the position in the next coming weeks.

Sophomore wide receiver Terrence Mitchell, who has not played since the UTEP game, could take a medical redshirt. T-Rex suffered a nasty concussion against UTEP and has not recovered completely yet. While he has progressed since the injury, Holtz does not want to risk his health and is considering the medical redshirt. Since he played in only 4 games, he could use the redshirt and save a year of eligibility.

In our opinion, he should take the redshirt, especially if his test scores are not back to pre-concussion status. While we all want to see him on the field, his health and well being come first. Taking time off to recover completely is what he should do and might end up doing.

The other wide receiver that is now severely limited is 6th year senior A.J. Love. Love aggravated a stress fracture in his shin Friday and will be limited the rest of the way. Love has just 8 receptions on the season for 116 yards and one touchdown. The injuries has limited his ability on the field and this one will slow him down even more the rest of the way.

This leaves the Bulls very thin at wide receiver. Daniels has been targeting Deonte Welch, Andre Davis, and Victor Marc the most of the past two weeks, but having a veteran leader like Love slowed down with injuries hurts the depth even more. Hopefully the young players can continue to step up with Love slowed down and T-Rex possibly out for the season.
