Skip Holtz had his weekly press conference today with the media and there were a few interesting points to note. For one, wide receivers A.J. Love and Stephen Bravo-Brown, who have been both limited with injuries, will be "good to go" on Saturday vs. Rutgers. Both will have to step up and fill in the void left behind with Griffin gone for 6-8 weeks.
The biggest news to come from the conference was the announcement that redshirt freshman Deonte Welch and true freshman Andre Davis, would start at wide receiver at Rutgers. Holtz stated that both freshmen had picked up the offense well and would have a big game against the Knights.
Welch and Davis put on a show last weekend. Welch had 130 yards receiving and Davis has proven to be a clutch receiver when called upon. Both will have to step up as they make their first starts in a huge game for the team.
Holtz also commented on the penalties, acknowledging they have been hurting the team and have to stop if they want to win. Coach watched the game tape with the players to go over each flag and to see the situations the players were in during those calls. If the team can avoid penalties, Holtz feels they can be successful on the field.
