Shalethia Stringfield was one of the top recruits in the 2011 recruiting class for Coach Fernandez. She adds a lot of talent to the guard position and could make an impact in her freshman season.
Shalethia Stringfield - 5-6 - Freshman - Guard
Stringfield, out of Jacksonville, Florida, led her team, that was ranked 1st in the state and 15th in the country. In her final season, she averaged 15.4 points per game, 3.2 assists per game, 7 rebounds per game, and came away with 5.1 steals per game.
She is a very aggressive player on defense, keeping up with anyone, and playing hard (getting rebounds at a high pace). Fernandez loves to run his fast tempo with athletic guards that can run the court, shoot, and distribute the ball, Stringfield fits the model perfectly. While she might have a hard time battling for playing time in her freshman season (team is loaded with guards right now) she might get a chance with Andrea Smith coming off of ACL surgery. We can't wait to see her on the court.
