The game means a lot to the players. Whether the game can be called a "rivalry" or not is not the question, the bigger part of the game will be the familiarity between the players. Many of the USF players come from the south Miami area, the recruiting grounds of the Canes. Some of these players use to play against each other in high school, so there will extra motivation for the players on the field. Expect to see a little extra talking between both sides and emotions to ride high as they compete on the field.
The other big impact for this game is the recruiting aspect of it. According to Bulls247, up to 20 recruits will be on the sideline for the game. Recruiting has become a never ending ordeal for all college teams, and in the hotbed recruiting state of Florida, it never ends. A big time match-up between two teams that are competing for the same recruits will be huge. If the Bulls win again, it will send a message that USF can beat the power teams in the state and could sway recruits our way.
Saturday's game will mean more to the Bulls and Canes than just another win or loss.
