USF Drops Opener to FSU 62 to 49

The 2011-2012 season got off to a rough start for the ladies as the drop the first game to 18th ranked FSU 62 to 49 (start 0-1 on the season). USF battled for the first half, jumping out to a 5 to 0 lead to start the game, but the Seminoles were too much and the Bulls couldn't get enough out of the offense.

Jasmine Wynne had 12 points (6 of 13) and added 2 rebounds as she gets her senior season started well. Kaneisha Saunders had 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Andrell Smith struggled big time in this game. She was just 1 for 13 from the field, adding just 3 points. She had 4 rebounds, 2 assists, but turned the ball over 5 times (can't do that against great teams like FSU). Caitlin Rowe had a huge game in her USF debut. She led everyone with 19 points and pulled down 3 rebounds as she looks to anchor the paint for the Bulls this season.

The Bulls showed a lot of fight, but failed to make the shots at the end as FSU pulled away for the win. Without the big time scorer of Andrea Smtih, the Bulls struggled to find a consistent shooting threat, but will be able to learn from this game and get better. USF faces Arkansas (0-1) tomorrow at 4:30 PM in game two of the WBI Tip-off Tournament.
